2 Q. Are you a medical doctor?
3 A. I am a medical doctor.
4 Q. Will you tell the ladies and g ntlemen
5 of the jury something of your background, starting
6 first with your education that you had to become a
7 doctor.
8 A. I went to Pennsylvania State U@iversity,
9 transferred to Carnegie Institute of Tech@ology'
10 now known as Carnegie-Mellon, in Pittsbur Fh, in
11 electrical engineering.
12 Then went into the military service,
13 and then came back and went to Dickinson Cp1lege,
14 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where I received a BS
15 and also the same year received my EE de ree from
16 Carnegie Tech.
17 At the time I received the e degrees,
is in 1948, I was already in medical school and had
19 graduated from Hahnemann Medical College@ which is
20 now Hahnemann University in Philadelphia
21 Pennsylvania, in the year 1949.
22 I took an internship, rota ing, at
Fil 23 Staten Island Marine Hospital, and from here went
24 into an orthopedic residency at New York

1 University, Bellevue Medical Center.
2 After a period of two years, I took
3 a year's leave of absence and went to the
4 University Of Pittsburgh School of Public Health
5 and received a Master's in Public Health d  gree,
6 I'm sorry, a Master in science in biophysi@cs and
7 occupational medicine.
8 I returned to New York University,
9 Bellevue Medical Center, and took another year and
10 a half in the field of rehabilitation medicine,
11 and subsequently finished all my residenc y
12 training, went to the University of Louis@ille, in
13 I think 1954-55. I stayed as department hpad in
14 the rehabilitation medicine.
15 I left there and returned t what
16 had become my native state of New Jersey n 1955,
17 and I became a clinical director, Kessler
18 Institute, and also an instructor and had
19 privileges in the Crippled Children's Hos@ital in
20 Newark, New Jersey, and in Christ Hospita in
21 Jersey City, New Jersey.
22 I stayed in that capacity till
23 1957-58, when I left there and went to New Jersey
24 Orthopedic Hospital, where I stayed till, in a

1 capacity as clinical director, till 1972.
2 During this period of time, in 1958,
3 1 was given a fellowship in the Internati onal
4 College of Surgeons; and I had previously
5 qualified for Boards in Rehabilitation Me Iicine in
6 1955.
7 In my duties and capacities at the
8 orthopedic hospital, I was coordinator of the
9 teaching program, director of ambulatory are, had
10 surgical privileges, and stayed in that c@pacity
11 in a full-time position along with an app
