SHARPS, M.D., after 4 having been first duly sworn, was examined and 5 testified as follows: 6 MR. SOCHANCHAK: My name is Paul 7 Sochanchak. I represent Bryan Reppert. We're 8 here today to take the trial deposition of Dr. 9 Lewis Sharps. As this testimony is in lieu of 10 live testimony before the assigned Workers' 11 Compensation judge, Judge Liddy, all objections 12 must be stated on the record or will be deemed 13 waived. Is that agreeable? 14 MR. YOUNG: That's fine. I note 15 for the record that I'm Jonathan Young for the 16 defendant employer. 17 MR. SOCHANCHAK: I believe 18 there's also a stipulation as to Dr. Sharps as a 19 medical expert in the field of orthopedic 20 surgery. 21 MR. YOUNG: That's fine. 22 * * * 23 DIRECT EXAMINATION ON VOIR DIRE 24 * * * 0006 1 BY MR. SOCHANCHAK: 2 Q. Dr. Sharps, do you have a copy of your 3 curriculum vitae in front of you? 4 A. Yes, I do. 5 Q. I could give us a brief background of 6 your medical experience? 7 A. I attended medical school at Thomas 8 Jefferson University Hospital from 1971 through 9 1975 and then entered into a surgical internship 10 at the same university hospital through 1976. 11 In 1976 I began my orthopedic specialty 12 training, which was also at Thomas Jefferson 13 University Hospital and extended through to 14 1980. In 1981 I became board certified by the 15 American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. In 1985 I 16 became a fellow of the American College of 17 Surgery. I have been in private practice since 18 1980 through the present time. I'm on the 19 full-time staff at Paoli Memorial Hospital, 20 Phoenixville Hospital, St. Francis Hospital in 21 Wilmington, Delaware and on the courtesy staff 22 of Bryn Mawr Rehab. 23 Q. Doctor, in the past ten years have you 24 had the opportunity to treat people who were 0007 1 involved in automobile accidents? 2 A. Yes, I have. 3 Q. Would that also include individuals 4 who have sustained injuries to their neck, back, 5 shoulders? 6
