[a1 Q Doctor, could you please
state your full name.
[a1 A Steven Mark Donn, M.D.
(s1 Q And what is your profession?
161 A I\'m a physician .
p) Q Okay. And what type of
physician?
(e] A I\'m a neonatologist; that is,
I\'m a pediatrician [9] with a

[ill Q Okay. So how does a
pediatrician differ from a

time are we talking [ia1 about when
you say a newborn infant?
[ia1 A A pediatrician is a specialist
in medicine who [isj deals with the
diseases and problems of infants,
[isl childrens-children and
adolescents over the (i71 entire
pediatric age range. As a
neonatologist, I [1e] confine the
great majority of my practice to
his] newborn infants, usually
defined as the first 28 [20] days of
life . But more appropriately, R\'s
(2i] actually the period of time that
a newborn infant [z21 remains in
intensive care.
[2s1 Q And where are you
employed?
[za1 A I\'m at the University of
Michigan Medical Center.
[zsl I\'m a professor in the

[71 approximately, if you can do a

(e] A Well, in the past 18 years, I
would estimate the [s1 number
would be in the thousands .
(io] Q Okay. Have you worked with
nurses on a regular (I il basis in the
nursery as well?
(i21 A Yes, sir, every day.
(is) Q Okay. With respect to your
